ABOUT BDC
The Botswana Development Corporation (hereinafter referred to as “BDC” or the “Corporation”) is the Government’s main investment arm established in 1970 as a private company and wholly owned by the Government of Botswana through the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI).
OUR MANDATE
BDC’s primary mandate is to provide and facilitate funding of commercially viable projects and/or enterprises that contribute towards industrialisation, economic development, and diversification.
The Corporation provides debt, equity, and mezzanine funding both domestically, regionally, and internationally. Other than primary diamond mining and what many consider to be ‘sin stocks’ (e.g. tobacco, gambling), BDC makes sure to invest in viable projects across impactful sectors of the economy, with a particular focus on those aligned to national priorities.

The Corporation invests in commercially viable projects in all sectors of the economy except large-scale diamond mining. These sectors include:
