East End Cooperative Ministry (EECM) changes the lives of people facing the impacts of poverty. For 50 years, EECM has been a community leader in addressing the issues that impact our area’s most at-risk, disadvantaged, and under-served populations. From its beginnings as an interfaith coalition of congregations, EECM has responded to community needs with programs that provide opportunity, transformation and hope to those experiencing homelessness, food insecurity, educational challenges, and barriers to employment. Today, we are proud to be considered an important community anchor not only in Pittsburgh’s East End, but throughout the city of Pittsburgh. We have been recognized for our service in meeting many of the fundamental needs of those impacted within our local communities, and have become more deeply rooted in our mission and in service to meeting these ongoing needs. Our multi-faceted programs provide:
• Free meals and groceries for those struggling with hunger and food insecurity;
• Assistance with securing permanent housing for those who are experiencing homelessness;
• Case management for individuals and families struggling with poverty, addictions, and mental health issues;
• Education and training for those with barriers to employment;
• Mentoring to help urban children and youth succeed in school, make healthy decisions, explore new interests, and value themselves.
