The AMC’s purpose is to ensure that the standards of education, training and assessment of the medical profession promote and protect the health of the Australian community. We are an independent national standards body for medical education and training. Our role is to: develop standards; assess medical programs of study (Australian and New Zealand) and the institutions that provide them; and assess doctors trained overseas who are seeking to practice in Australia.
