Vision: Malaysia as the leading global healthcare destination.
Mission: Promoting Malaysia healthcare globally and facilitating the industry sustainability.
The Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) is a government agency that has been entrusted with the responsibility of curating the country’s healthcare travel scene. Founded in 2009, MHTC facilitates and grows Malaysia’s healthcare travel industry under the brand “Malaysia Healthcare” with the intended goal of making Malaysia the leading global healthcare destination. Since then, MHTC has worked to streamline industry players and service providers into a more focused development strategy to raise Malaysia’s profile in healthcare travel on an international stage. It is an example of a successful model of public-private partnerships (PPP) in growing the healthcare travel sector in Malaysia.
MHTC will galvanise public-private sector collaboration to formulate strategic plans for the development and promotion of healthcare travel services, and coordinate promotional activities for Malaysian healthcare providers and related stakeholders. While the healthcare travel industry will be private sector-driven, the Government will assume an active role to facilitate its growth.
MHTC will also be a focal point or a 'one-stop centre' for all matters related to healthcare travel, to facilitate enquiries on policies and programmes on healthcare travel development and promotion, and serve as a one-stop centre for solutions on matters related to healthcare travel. MHTC will not only be the promotion arm of the Government but also a referral point to assist healthcare travelers and members in the healthcare travel industry in Malaysia.
