Prashant Kishor, the founder of Jan Suraaj, is walking across Bihar's villages and towns since 2nd October 2022. To the thousands of people he meets every day on his padyatra, he shares one simple message: do not vote on issues of caste, religion or handouts -- vote instead for your child's education and employment. To deepen this shift away from identity-based politics and towards issue-based politics, Jan Suraaj Foundation develops and empowers progressive youth leaders across Bihar. These leaders form Youth Clubs to serve and organise their local communities and spread Jan Suraaj's core message. Today, we have built a network of 20,000+ such leaders across the state. Over the coming years, our aim is to support this network to become elected representatives and community leaders. If successful, this will lead to a systemic, sustained and bottom-up transformation of Bihar.
