Operates the following hotline programs:
- Helpline 2-1-1 (8 county service area in N. FL)
- Family Health Line (Florida)
- Florida HIV/AIDS Hotline
- Help Me Grow (8 county service area in N. FL)
Member of the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline Network and answers Lifeline calls from North Florida.
Provides community training workshops in addition to the volunteer hotline training classes.
Accredited by Alliance of Information and Referral Services (AIRS) and American Association of Suicidology (AAS). Certified as a 2-1-1 Provider in Florida.
- Established in 1970 as Telephone Counseling Service (TCS) at Florida State University
- Incorporated as Telephone Counseling and Referral Service (TCRS) in 1976
- Changed agency name to 2-1-1 Big Bend in 2002
- Recognized as Chamber Awards Nonprofit of the Year in 2013
- Received the 2016 Roger Kaufman Exemplary Community Agency Award
Agency budget is $1.8 million and employs 28 FTEs. More than 50 volunteers work at the agency each year and donate more than 10,000 hours of time. There is a 14 member board of directors.
Funded by the United Way of the Big Bend, local and state government, grants, service contracts, product sales and private donations.
