Foras International Investment Company was established at the initiative of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry with partnership of the Islamic Development Bank, and it works on seeking investment opportunities within the scope of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC). Its strategy is based on a clear plan which aims to develop the OIC countries by investing in some targeted sectors until the country reach the stage of self-sufficiency.
Foras focuses on three sectors: agricultural, infrastructure and real estate (especially low-cost housing). The company is currently engaged in a number of African countries such as Sudan, Mali, Senegal and Benin, and set up to work in Nigeria, Uganda and Mauritania. One of its mega-projects in the agricultural sector is the production of rice and other crops in East and West Africa to address global food crisis and eradicate hunger.
