Whakarongorau Aotearoa // New Zealand Telehealth Services is the social enterprise running the Government-funded free to the public, 24/7 national telehealth services across seven digital channels.
Those 35+ services include Healthline, the COVID Healthline, the Vaccination Healthline, 1737 – Need to talk?, Quitline, the national sexual harm service Safe to talk, the Puāwaitanga counselling service, the cervical and bowel national screening coordination centres, and General Practice After Hours services.
We want to give everyone in Aotearoa the opportunity for wellness. We focus on the connected world of digital care, where we can help join all the dots, and select the right services, advice, support and help for the right need.
Whakarongorau-run services support the health, mental health, and social sectors across Aotearoa and have a positive impact on the lives of over 1.5 million people every year – connecting with 1 in 4 people in Aotearoa.
The services are supported by 12 clinical teams of registered nurses, mental health nurses, psychiatrists, counsellors, social workers, doctors, paramedics, poisons officers, health advisors, family and sexual harm professionals, and emergency triage nurses. Our
The majority of our 500 staff work from their homes across Aotearoa, and some from contact centres in Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch. Whakarongorau also partners with iwi and Māori-owned organisations in Kaikohe, Heretaunga, and Rotorua.
The services we run are co-funded by Health New Zealand / Te Whatu Ora, MSD, ACC, NZ Defence Force, and the Department of Corrections.
