Homes 4 the Homeless is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing innovative housing solutions for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Founded in 2018 by Steve Schneider after the Sonoma wildfires, our mission is to create permanent, dignified homes that transform lives and foster a sense of community. Headquartered in California, we focus on building custom-designed, factory-constructed homes that meet all single-family residence standards, offering a sustainable and affordable solution to the housing crisis.
Our flagship initiative, VESSEL Housing, exemplifies our commitment to flexibility and adaptability. These modular homes can be rapidly installed and relocated as needed, ensuring we can meet evolving local demands efficiently. Our projects span across the United States and internationally, including notable efforts in Hawaii, California, and Colombia.
We collaborate with a diverse network of partners, including architectural firms, construction agencies, private businesses, and fellow nonprofits, to maximize our impact. Our approach integrates vocational youth training programs, providing opportunities for at-risk youth to gain valuable skills in construction and other trades, thus supporting their future success while contributing to our mission.
At Homes 4 the Homeless, we are committed to transparency and excellence, as evidenced by our Platinum certification from GuideStar and Candid. Our nonprofit model is driven by a passion to make housing as affordable as possible, redirecting resources to provide critical support services for those in need.
