Tolan was established in 1945 to manufacture sanitary vessels for the dairy, and beverage industries. In the late 1950’s as these markets slowed in the northeast, our marketing effort was re-directed toward the Pharmaceutical and Petrochemical industries.
On March 1, 1995, Tolan experienced a devastating fire to our Montclair, NJ plant. The entire facility had to be razed. Tolan leased a temporary facility, in Fairfield, NJ. The balance of 1995, through what was truly a team effort, ended up as one of the best in the Company's history. We can not say enough, about the dedication our personnel demonstrated during this time.
In December of 1997, after an exhaustive search we purchased our present facility. We closed and took occupancy in April of 1998. In April of 2005 we retired the mortgage. The new property located on eleven acres consists of over 60,000 square feet of manufacturing and office space. Overhead capabilities include two, 10 ton and four, 5 ton cranes. The new facility allowed us to finalize our equipment procurement (see Facility List).
We have the equipment and manpower to manufacture equipment from 5 to 40,000 gallons with diameters up to 16 feet. In addition to Stainless Steel, Nickel Alloy, and Carbon Vessels, we offer specialty weldments constructed to customer specifications, delivered in a timely fashion.
