SharedGeo was founded in September 2008 as a way to advance the use of mapping technologies and share geographic data in support of disaster response and relief operations in the United States. Since that time, SharedGeo has become engaged in a wide variety of related activities – including environmental, public safety, and similar efforts that benefit engaged communities.
From initial conversations on how to bring together technology, preparedness, and collaboration, SharedGeo has grown into a federally recognized Minnesota based nonprofit serving the needs of diverse communities of interest. Our emphasis throughout this development has been on building reusable open-source mapping tools that will enable users to work together and share data geographic data to make a better, more informed society.
SharedGeo's mission is to help government, nonprofit, education, and corporate entities use mapping technologies and share geographic data for the public good. Bring us your ideas and let's see what we can build together.
