Rieks Towing was established in 1984 by Louwrens J Riekert, the Managing Director. The company started out as a one-man operation and has since expanded to one of the leading towing and recovery contractors in Southern Africa. Rieks Towing operates from these eight locations: Pretoria (HQ), Centurion, Johannesburg (West Rand), Johannesburg (East Rand), Polokwane, Secunda, Durban (Pinetown), and Harrismith. The primary field of Rieks Towing’s operations revolves around the retrieval of broken down or accident vehicles. Additional to towing and recovery services, Rieks Towing also offers a specialised transport division that caters for the transport of earthmoving and agricultural equipment, cranes, etc. Rieks Towing operates a fleet of recovery vehicles that attend to any vehicle related problem. This fleet consists of various recovery units, such as towing vehicles equipped with under reach lifting equipment, tractors, low-bed trailers, transporters and an air cushion recovery unit. All the vehicles range from 10 to 75 tons.
