We started off as a simple NCEA credit counter back in 2014. At that time, we wanted to help young people take charge of their learning and be able to monitor their credits on their phones. We were pretty successful but quickly realised that gaining credits only solved a part of the puzzle. The biggest issue for a young person is knowing what to do with those credits and how they can use them to enter the next stage of their life. So, we set about building a platform to enable young people to plan ideas about those vital next steps and look at the range of options out there. Young people can now view thousands of tertiary courses, set goals, self reflect, develop a CV as well as build a portfolio showing employers why they are work ready.
To add to that, we recently enabled teachers to help more through our mentoring dashboard. Teachers can now learn more about the young people sitting in front of them than ever before. These insights allow teachers to guide and encourage young people through this journey as well as offering advice about how they can reach their goals. The team at MyMahi are proud to be a part of this journey too!
