Citizen Matters is a civic media platform with insightful reports on critical urban issues, ideas and solutions for cities.
We dive deep into ordinary, daily, common issues which affect our quality of life. Water, sewage, roads, transport, electricity, public safety, air quality, governance, education, jobs and the everyday economies of our streets.
We centre civic engagement, citizen action and changemaking, bringing a systems perspective and a framework for knowledge sharing, engagement and collaboration with local communities.
Over 15 years, our work has catalysed change; it has triggered public discourse and aided numerous citizen efforts, governance decisions, and local policies.
Citizen Matters has chapters in Bengaluru, Chennai and Mumbai, and also looks at patterns of urban change across India’s biggest cities.
This is a programme of Oorvani Foundation, a non-profit committed to civic engagement, citizenship and communities. Our vision is to empower citizens to make cities and neighbourhoods sustainable, liveable and equitable. To that end, we connect people who want better cities with civic information, tools, networks and resources they need to make it happen.
