EU-Gulf Strategic Partnership The EU’s Joint Communication on a strategic partnership with the Gulf presented in May 2022 mentions, among others: “Given the magnitude of climate change challenges and the opportunities that the green transition can offer, joining forces is paramount for the EU and the Gulf region” and includes a set of action points that work as global guiding principles: • Establish EU-GCC energy and climate expert group. • Conduct annual EU-GCC Ministerial meeting on green transition. • Promote regulatory cooperation and infrastructure for renewable energy. • Develop sustainable finance engagement with financial institutions. • Create a dedicated facility for expertise exchange. • Host a high-level green transition seminar. • Launch marine protection initiative around the Arabian Peninsula
