Synesthesia (formerly known as SynesthASIA) is a Montreal-based organization that seeks to raise funds for sustainable development and justice promotion projects in Canada. The name of our organization is rooted in its namesake: Synesthesia is the neurological phenomenon that results in a blurring of the senses. In this regard, Synesthesia’s biggest fundraiser of the year, the Charity Fashion Show, stimulates the senses in a blend of charity, fashion, art, and music.
Synesthesia sets itself apart from other philanthropic initiatives at McGill with its unique cosmopolitan approach and dedication to excellence in fashion. Montreal’s up-and-coming multicultural creative scene inspires Synesthesia’s artistic vision. We aim to celebrate fashion by admiring the work of dedicated local designers that we feature in our annual Charity Fashion Show. We can do this because we’re a verified charity organization through SSMU.
In 2021-22, Synesthesia is honoured to partner with RAVEN Trust. RAVEN Trust is a fundraising organization that supports the legal defense of Indigenous Peoples’ across land and environmental justice initiatives. This year, we raise money to support the RAVEN’s current campaigns, including funding for Wet’suwet’en land protection, Wild Salmon defense, Treaty Rights defense with the Beaver Lake Cree Nation, and the Beaver Lake Cree Nation. We fundraise throughout the year, and our VP Finance handles the funds, culminating in the final show. At this point, we send our funds officially by cheque to RAVEN’s Business Outreach & Event Organizer. They will keep us updated on the application of our funds to support Indigenous reconciliation and environmental justice.
