Crude Accountability works with communities that are negatively impacted by oil and gas development in the Caspian and Black Sea regions to ensure environmental justice. We carry out campaigns, research, and projects in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Turkmenistan.
As a founding member of the Civic Solidarity Platform’s Climate Justice Working Group, Crude Accountability recognizes the broader context that impacts our campaigning and research. Crude Accountability’s current climate work ranges from researching countries’ commitments under the Paris Agreement to building the capacity of environmental defenders to work on climate change.
Crude Accountability does not accept funding from the petroleum industry. All of our funding comes from individuals and private foundations.
