Service to Hawaii Since 1900
In 1900, Herbert, William and Jack Young arrived in Honolulu to start a "bumboat" business called Young Brothers.
Thirteen years later the firm was incorporated as Young Brothers, Limited, and expanded to provide ocean towing, rescue service and barge transportation between the islands. It got its start by providing ocean transportation services between Oahu and Molokai. Later, to separate harbor operations and charter activities from Young Brothers' interisland freight operations, Hawaiian Tug & Barge was formed as a sister company.
In 1999, Saltchuk Resources, Inc. of Seattle, Washington, the parent company of Foss Maritime, acquired Young Brothers and selected assets of Hawaiian Tug & Barge. In 2013 Hawaiian Tug & Barge was rebranded, and incorporated into the Foss Maritime fleet, while Young Brothers remains a wholly own subsidiary of Foss.
