Annually attracting more than a million visitors from all over the world, the Iowa State Fair is the single largest event in the state and Iowa’s great celebration, a salute to the state’s best in entertainment, agriculture, industry and achievement.
The Fair boasts the state's largest arts show, the largest foods department of any state fair and one of the world’s largest livestock shows. Midwest Living magazine named the Fair one of the “Top 30 Things Every Midwesterner Should Experience.” The Fair is also included in the New York Times best-selling travel book, 1,000 Places to See Before You Die, and is the subject of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s award-winning musical, State Fair.
The Fair employs roughly 60 full-time staff members to help plan and execute each year's Fair as well as countless seasonal and Fairtime staff brought on in the summer months to help prepare for the upcoming celebration.
