We were established by British International Investment (BII) - the UK's development finance institution - as a dedicated developer and investment platform for electricity network investments in Africa.
We are owned and funded by BII, and backed by the UK government's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.
We develop and then invest in critical electricity network infrastructure, whether on or off-grid. This includes utility concessions, public private partnerships, management contracts, rural electrification programmes, isolated grid systems, off-grid-to-on-grid investments, and utility services companies.
Working with governments, multilateral organisations and other investors, we bring flexible, patient capital to the sector. This is matched with considerable industry expertise stemming from experience across the transmission and distribution spectrum. Over time, our work will deliver affordable, reliable power to people and businesses across Africa.
