NOW-NYC is proud to be the founding chapter of NOW. Since 1966 we have worked to advance the women and girls of New York City through public education, grassroots organizing, lobbying, action, and advocacy. Since our inception, NOW-NYC has worked to create a culture where America’s most valuable untapped resource- women- can succeed in all realms. NOW-NYC aims to end violence against women, advance women in the workplace, promote reproductive freedom, transform images of women in the media, and secure equality for LGBTQ people.
The Service Fund of NOW-NYC is NOW-NYC's charitable sister organization. It delivers educational forums on key women's issues and has been providing direct services and referrals to women for the past 25 years. The Service Fund's Project Access program currently benefits over 1,000 women per year across the five boroughs of New York City and its surrounding areas by providing a free call-in HELPLINE and free to low-cost Legal and Financial Clinics in the areas of Divorce, Custody, Employment Discrimination, and Financial Empowerment. Especially in desperate or dangerous situations, such as domestic violence or stalking, women need a place they can turn to for immediate assistance. The Service Fund is there to answer that call.
