Lomakatsi Restoration Project is a nonprofit organization that develops and implements forest and watershed restoration projects in Oregon and Northern California. For 25 years, Lomakatsi has worked across geographic, political and cultural boundaries to restore thousands of acres forests and miles of streams. In the process, we advance social equity by creating green, living wage jobs and sustainable local restoration economies where they are needed most.
Lomakatsi develops partnerships with rural communities, Tribal Nations, government agencies, and fellow NGOs to restore vital wildlife habitat, provide education and workforce training programs, and increase the connection between communities and ecosystems. Our work has created models within nationally recognized projects and programs.
Lomakatsi provides expertise and capacity in project development, planning, management, fine-scale ecological treatment design, monitoring, and implementation for ecosystem restoration projects. We integrate restoration practice with science delivery, education and workforce training. Lomakatsi coordinates closely with multiple funding partners and manages a diverse workforce in complex social settings supported by critical community outreach.
For over 15 years, Lomakatsi has employed an innovative and highly successful model for engaging a diversity of youth in ecological restoration to build fire-adapted forests and communities. This model creates meaningful, living wage work experiences that provide the foundation for the next generation of workers in the forest product and ecological restoration industries.
