The Webby Awards is the leading international award honoring excellence on the Internet, including: Websites and Mobile Sites; Video; Advertising, Media & PR; Apps, dApps & Software; Social; Podcasts; Games; and Metaverse, Immersive & Virtual.
Established in 1996 during the Web's infancy, The Webbys is presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS)—a 2000+ member judging body. The Academy is comprised of Executive Members—leading Web experts, business figures, luminaries, visionaries and creative celebrities—and Associate Members who are former Webby Winners, Nominees and other Internet professionals.
The Executive Academy is comprised of industry luminaries such as actress Gillian Anderson, musicians Grimes and Questlove, Internet inventor Vint Cerf, Instagram’s Head of Fashion Partnerships Eva Chen, Twitter Founder Biz Stone, Vice Media Co-Founder and CEO Shane Smith, Tumblr’s David Karp, Director of Harvard’s Berkman Center for Internet & Society Susan P. Crawford, Co-inventor of Google Cardboard, David Coz, Refinery29’s Executive Creative Director Piera Gelardi, and Alex Blumberg, CEO and cofounder of Gimlet Media. Members also include writers and editors from publications such as The New York Times, Wired, Details, Fast Company, Elle, The Los Angeles Times, Vibe, and WallPaper.
The Webby Awards presents two honors in every category—The Webby Award and The Webby People’s Voice Award. Members of the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS) select the Nominees for both awards in each category, as well as the Winners of The Webby Awards. In the spirit of the open Internet, The Webby People’s Voice is awarded by the voting public. Each year, The Webby People’s Voice Awards garners millions of votes from all over the world.
