John R Harris & Partners was originally invited by then Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, to develop a masterplan for the rapidly growing city of Dubai. In the years that followed designs for many of the region's most significant buildings emanated from the office in Dubai including the Dubai World Trade Centre which as opened by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth in 1979.
