As an international University, KIU offers over 200 academic programmes that attract students from East Africa, Western and Central Africa, Southern Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.
Founded by Ugandan Educationist, Entrepreneur and Philanthropist, Hajj Dr. Hassan Basajjabalaba, the university offers programmes ranging from Economics and Management, Humanities and Social Sciences, Education, Law, Natural and Applied Sciences, Mathematics and Computing, Engineering, Medicine and Dentistry, Biomedical Sciences, Allied Health Sciences, Nursing Sciences, and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
KIU Graduates in Uganda and many African countries have gone on to become successful professionals in the fields of Engineering, Medicine, Law, Media, Science and Technology, high-ranking government officials and Members of Parliament (MP). Notable among them is Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among, the current Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda.
The University runs the biggest private Teaching Hospital in Uganda, the Kampala International University Teaching Hospital and Research (KIUTHR). The Teaching Hospital has gone to become a hub for the training of health professionals from Uganda, East Africa, the African Continent and worldwide. Medical graduates from KIUTHR have proceeded to create visible impacts in the health sectors of Uganda, Kenya, Somalia, Tanzania, Nigeria and others.
