Founded in 2004 by Sebastián Machado, at Mano Arquitectura we design buildings in a careful and detailed manner, where both the setting and the people who inhabit them are the main influences on how they’re made. We start from a deep knowledge of this inhabitation to design spaces where we can educate, heal, rest, work, enjoy and share. Our team is made up of professionals from various disciplines who share the love and passion for their craft and making designs that last. Urbanism, landscaping, architecture, engineering, interior design and furniture are integrated into each project, coherently expressing timeless ideas that honor the past but look to the future. A future in which buildings are integrated into the landscape in a subtle way, knowing that each stone that is placed implies a responsibility and that the human being needs all of his senses to connect with nature. We carefully select noble materials and make them play in each project through a subtle handling of light, creating atmospheres that activate the senses and with them, the memory. The wood’s smell, the stone’s echo, and the stuccos’ touch are all selected not only with the present in mind but also with their aging process, their way of accepting the passage of time, their patina caused by wear and tear, and their ability to break and still remain beautiful. Our projected works aim to expand the wisdom of a place, providing new elements that enrich the environment. We aspire to create timeless architecture that is capable of creating new sensations and atmospheres. We like to think that our projects are intended for those who look carefully, who stop to contemplate.
