Operating under the Council-Manager form of government, The Village of Carpentersville is governed by the Village Board, which consists of an elected Village President and six Trustees. As the elected representatives of Carpentersville, the Village Board sets Village policy through the adoption of ordinances, resolutions, motions, and budgets. Our officials are elected at large, which means that they represent the entire Village. The Village President also serves as the Village's Liquor Commissioner.
The Village President appoints the Village Manager with the approval of the Board. The Village Manager is responsible for carrying out the policies directed by the Village Board and overseeing the day-to-day operations of government services and programs. The Village President also appoints the Village Clerk with the approval of the Board of Trustees. The Clerk serves as the recording secretary for the Board of Trustees and the local election officer for all municipal elections.
The Village of Carpentersville is committed to providing its citizens with the best possible health, safety, and public service to allow for balanced growth with effective financial management and planning.
