UQ Union (UQU) represents 50,000+ students as the official student union at the University of Queensland. Our student-led organisation empowers and advocates for students throughout their university journey. We provide support services, organise engaging events and operate on-campus outlets and retail businesses.
PARTNERSHIP
Collaborating with UQU offers businesses access to a large student community, brand visibility and social responsibility opportunities. We prioritise transparency, integrity, inclusivity, sustainability and accountability.
CLUBS & SOCIETIES / EVENTS
UQU supports 220+ clubs and societies with 34,000+ members, providing resources and funding for their success. We organise major events, festivals, and workshops fostering community and personal development.
STUDENT ADVOCACY & SUPPORT
UQU represents students interests, focusing on affordability and well-being. Student Advocacy & Support (SAS) provides confidential advice on academic and personal matters, assistance with visas, legal issues, welfare, academics and finances. We offer democratic opportunities through elections and committees, with seven collectives representing minority and special interest groups.
WELFARE, FOOD & RETAIL
Purchases from UQU outlets support student welfare and advocacy. Surplus funds are reinvested in events, clubs, services and retail discounts. UQU collaborates with SecondBite and Foodbank to address food insecurity through welfare programs and operates eight retail outlets (uni bar, lolly shop, bakery, two cafés, bookshop, pizza caffe, main refectory) + Gatton bar, ACU Banyo Café and Bar, Schonell Theatre and Schonell Catering & Events, providing quality food and beverage catering from 10 to 2,500+.
SUSTAINABILITY
UQU promotes plastic reduction, ethical sourcing and waste management. Collaborations with UQ Unwrapped and Responsible Cafés further our sustainability efforts.
