An increasing number of people, life forms and habitats are becoming vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. Both anthropogenic and natural factors have contributed to climate change and there is an urgent need for creating awareness and taking action.
Sustera foundation is a non-profit section 8 non-profit organization evolving with the aim of working with the communities to identify local level actions to ensure resilience through capacity building, outreach, and advocacy thus contributing to the achievement of United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDG) for 2030. Resilience is meant in terms of sustainability in employment opportunities (especially among women), environment education focusing on the immediate ecosystem including climate/disaster education, need-based plan of action required for sustainable development, and capacity building for a disaster-resilient society.
The word SUSTERA is derived from the latin words “SUS” meaning sustainable and “TERRA” meaning earth. The words Susthira in Malayalam and Susthir in Hindi/Sanskrit refers to sustainability.
