The Marine Biological Association (MBA) is a learned society and one of the UK’s leading marine biological research institutes. Our mission is to promote scientific research into all aspects of life in the sea and to disseminate to the public the knowledge gained.
In 2013 the MBA was awarded a Royal Charter in recognition of its long and eminent history and its status within the field of marine biology.
In April 2018, the Continuous Plankton Recorder Survey (previously SAHFOS) merged with the Marine Biological Association, promising a stronger future for marine biology.
