Our Mission: Identify, develop and promote best practice to support people living with Parkinson’s.
Parkinson’s Queensland Inc (PQI) is a charitable organisation that provides information, education and support to Queenslanders impacted by Parkinson's Disease. Be they a person living with the condition, their loved ones, health professionals, aged and disability care providers. We also assist people with related conditions including Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, Essential Tremor and Restless Leg Syndrome.
Our focus is on ensuring we provide access to information, tools and support that enhance a person's quality of life, raises awareness of Parkinson's and improves outcomes for those living with it.
We also provide an essential link between the community and support services to ensure those living with the day-to-day and long term impact of Parkinson’s and related disorders can face the future with confidence and independence.
We estimate that as many as 18,000 Queenslanders are living with Parkinson's and that number rises but around 2,000 new diagnosis each year.
Parkinson's is now the second fastest growing neurological condition behind Alzheimers so our work continues to grow.
