Kidsafe is the Child Accident Prevention Foundation of Australia. We are the leading independent, non-profit, non-government foundation dedicated to the prevention of unintentional death, injury and associated disability to children.
Injuries are the leading cause of death for children aged one to fourteen in Australia, with more children dying due to injury than from cancer, asthma and infectious diseases combined. In Victoria, approximately 29 children die and a further 81,000 are treated in hospital due to unintentional injuries every year.
Kidsafe Victoria is a member of the global organisation, Safe Kids Worldwide and operates in cooperation with a variety of stakeholders, including government, industry, the media, community groups and local councils. We deliver a range of injury prevention programs, media campaigns and educational resources.
Since Kidsafe's establishment in 1979, the number of children in Australia killed by unintentional injury has more than halved.
