RCAHMS is the National Collection of materials on Scotland's built environment that connects people to places across time.
RCAHMS holds over 15 million photographs, drawings, maps and manuscripts relating to Scotland's architecture, archaeology and industry. This varied material is made available to the public in exhibitions, publications and via the web, and can also be browsed in person at RCAHMS search room in Edinburgh.
Our resources help people to value and enjoy their surroundings; they help in understanding the human influence on Scotland's places from earliest times to the present day; and they provide a world-class record of Scotland's unique historic and built environment to local, national and international audiences.
