SVF is one of Eastern India’s largest entertainment companies, having business interests in Film Production, Film Distribution, Television content Production, Digital Cinema, Music, New Media, Cinemas and Equipment Rental. SVF, founded in 1995 by Mahendra Soni and Shrikant Mohta, started off with film distribution - ‘Bombay’ being its first film. It is now 900 releases strong, and counting. SVF ventured into Film production with its first film, ‘Bhai Amar Bhai’, with over 110 films to its credit now.
SVF’s productions – ‘Raincoat’, ‘Chokher Bali’, ‘Memories in March’, ‘Chitrangada’ and ‘Chotoder Chobi’ - won the coveted National Award and also brought home Filmfare’s Black Lady, won the Centenary Award, YouTube’s Silver Button, Silver peacock and the Golden Leopard. Number of SVF’s films have been part of official selections at international film festivals in London, Berlin, Locarno, Dubai, Shanghai and New York.
SVF diversified into television content production in the year 2008 with commercially successful serials like ‘Bandhan’ & ‘Durga’. SVF Television has produced 30 shows, with over 5,000 hours of TV content and 10,000 Episodes. Other popular shows include ‘Maa’, ‘Bojhena Shey Bojhena’, ‘Goenda Ginni’ and others, garnering highest TRP ratings. SVF Cinemas, aiming to revolutionize the cinematic experience with premium facilities, is currently present in Krishnanagar, Purulia, Bolpur, Mogra, Giridih, Kolkata, Memari and Kalyani.
SVF Digital came into existence in 2007 when the company took the exclusive right for installation of Qube digital system across cinemas in East India. There were 320 installations in the first five years of operation, making it one of the fastest roll outs in India, the Fourth largest installation network in India and the largest in West Bengal. With songs spanning all genres of music, SVF Music has over 800 songs including acquired ones. SVF Music’s YouTube channel, with over 64,000 subscribers and 14 million video views is the No. 1 YouTube channel for Bengali music.
SVF New Media is SVF’s youngest business division, with soon-to-be-launched ‘Hoichoi’ as its maiden Over-The-Top (OTT) offering. ‘Hoichoi’ is a one stop online video streaming destination with the largest collection of Bengali entertainment. With Original Web-Series, Short Films and Documentaries exclusively for ‘Hoichoi’ in the pipeline, it will also have streaming music of over 800 songs for Bengali music aficionados.
