In 2010, a terrible financial recession swept across United States and the shake of this financial disaster were felt all over the world. The impact of recession was especially severe on small business owners. It was, then, the founders of Sandhira.com, Dhimant and Sangeeta Mehta, came up with a plan to help the small business owners for boosting their revenue during the economic downturn. Mr. Mehta recalls, "One morning, my wife and I thought about all the things we bought in the last six months and realized that we bought almost everything online. We thought of using digital media, due to the fact that everything now can be found on our fingertips. This isn’t your or mine need, but the necessity of time.” There was nothing like a South Asian portal to cater for the day to day needs of the community, and so in order to fill that 'big void' the process to establish a single platform was initiated to provide the daily needs of the South Asian community.
