About NAPS (National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme)
Government of India has launched a new scheme “National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS)’ on 19th August, 2016 with an indicative outlay of Rs. 10,000 crore in order to give financial support to establishments undertaking the apprenticeship training. Target under the scheme are 5 lakh apprentices in 2016-17, 10 lakh apprentices in 2017-18, 15 lakh apprentices in 2018-2019 and 20 lakh apprentices in 2019-20. Also note that the Apprenticeship is now mandated under the Apprenticeship Act for all sectors of industry including manufacturing and service.
Employers Benefits under NAPS:

· Establishment can design and run apprenticeship in customized courses
· Build a pipeline of skilled manpower
· Reduce attrition
· Apprentices can work in core area
· Reimbursement of 25% of stipend amount paid to apprentices per month max. Up to Rs.1500 per month from MSDE to establishment directly as a part of incentive.
· MSDE will also share the basic training cost (BTC) with basic training providers to a maximum limit of Rs 7500 for 500 hours/ 3 months per apprentice.
· Reduce expenditure on recruitment process
· Establishment can claim entire expenses incurred on the apprentices like stipend, training expenses, TPA charges etc. as a part of their CSR expenses.
· ESI, PF bonus are not applicable and exemptions in labour law compliances.
· Assist the establishment to get approval for basic training center (BTC's) in case these are not in the panel of approved BTCs under the NSDC as per the case
· Apprentices can be engaged from 6 months to 36 months
