Golestan University (GU) is nestled in the scenic landscapes of Golestan province, near the Caspian Sea, and stands as a beacon of academic excellence in northern Iran. Although officially established as an independent university in 2008, GU traces its rich history back to 1957 as part of the Gorgan University of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources. This long-standing legacy has helped GU emerge as one of Iran's leading public universities, inheriting a strong tradition of scholarly endeavor and research excellence.
Today, Golestan University continues to build on this legacy with three faculties—Humanities, Sciences, and Engineering and Technology—spread across two campuses. Offering over 70 fields of study at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels, GU is committed to providing a dynamic and inclusive learning environment where students are empowered to pursue their passions and achieve academic success.
At Golestan University, we are dedicated to excellence in education, research, and societal engagement. Our mission is to cultivate lifelong learners, critical thinkers, and responsible global citizens through innovative teaching, interdisciplinary collaboration, and a commitment to ethical leadership. By advancing knowledge, promoting social justice, and addressing the pressing challenges of our time, GU contributes to the welfare and prosperity of our region and beyond.
