On May 2, 1963, the Inn on the Park was opened by the Four Seasons Hotels Inc. under Chairman Isadore Sharp. Although it was the second for the chain, it was the one that signaled that Four Seasons would become one of the world's premier luxury hotel businesses.
From the beginning it was an overwhelming success, overlooking beautiful park setting and counting among it's famous guests, The Queen Mother, The Queen, Rolling Stones, Nikita Kruschev, Guns and Roses, Henry Winkler and Glen Gould, to name just a few. In 1996 it was sold to a Vancouver businessman but was not able to recapture it's former glory and gradually slipped into disrepair.
In October 2004, it was purchased and the huge task of redeveloping the property carried on in several phases. First, the oldest part of the hotel was demolished and in it's place, two car dealerships were built at the front of the property facing the hill to Eglinton Ave. Toyota On the Park and "Lexus On the Park" opened in early 2009.
Although the original hotel is no longer there, On the Park was created in the spirit of service and success for which the Inn On the Park was known.
