Founded in 2003 by Sam Mendes, Pippa Harris and Caro Newling, and joined in 2013 by Nicolas Brown, Neal Street Productions has been at the forefront of quality, distinctive film, theatre and television in the UK showcasing the very best British and international talent. Successes include the award-winning films Revolutionary Road, Jarhead and Starter For Ten; while the theatre slate includes the first ever transatlantic venture of it’s kind, The Bridge Project, enjoyed by audiences world-wide across six years, and two award-winning new musicals for the West End and Broadway, Shrek The Musical and Charlie and The Chocolate Factory. Directed by Sam Mendes, the stage adaptation of the children’s classic Charlie and The Chocolate Factory has consistently set new records for weekly attendances at the prestigious Theatre Royal Drury Lane.
Neal Street’s diverse television slate includes the award-winning Stuart A Life Backwards, starring Tom Hardy and Benedict Cumberbatch, and the BAFTA award winning BBC ONE hit drama, Call the Midwife, which regularly attracts over 10 million viewers. Neal Street Productions also co-produces John Logan’s Penny Dreadful, which is currently filming a second series for Showtime in the US and Sky Atlantic in the UK, and the award-winning Shakespeare project The Hollow Crown for BBC and PBS. Production has just completed on a second cycle of history plays starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Richard III.
