This page is run by Ispahani Islamia Eye Institute and Hospital to reach out to our patients, families, developing partners and supporters. We will endeavor to our utmost to engage as much as possible with everyone who follows us and participates on the site.
Islamia, as it has been known for over 50 years, is the largest multispecialty eye hospital in Bangladesh. The emphasis is on quality eye care for all socio-economic sections of society. The treatment for every patient is of the same quality, though the facilities vary according to the choice the patient makes. There are general facilities at very low cost, as well as private facilities, which are more comfortable and upscale.
Mr. M.A. Ispahani, when he founded the hospital, wanted to ensure that facilities were available for those who cannot afford to pay. This is one of the underlying tenets of the hospital, and these patients are covered by cross-subsidization – funds from those who pay more go to offset the costs of treating the poor.
Our Mission:
1. To serve the socially under-privileged with needed eye care.
2. To aid in the fight against avoidable and needless blindness, which affects millions of people throughout Bangladesh.
Our Vision:
1. To be the finest eye-care facility in Bangladesh.
2. To be the preferred eye-care facility for those who can choose where to go, and to be excellent enough to be able to attract patients from other countries.
3. To become an international training centre in ophthalmology for doctors and ophthalmic paramedics from all over the world.
4. To be accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI).
Values:
The Core Values of Islamia are:
1. The needs of the patient must come first.
2. Collaboration across the Institute.
3. Integrity.
4. Transparency.
