Indian History Tales is an initiative by Sahil Joshi (@sahiljoshi_8 ), a student of Politics with a keen interest in Ancient History, especially that of the Indian Subcontinent, studying at Wilson College, Mumbai.
The idea for this Instagram page @indianhistorytales_ was born with a view of increasing awareness by displaying glances of such above cave complexes and other unexplored and underrated people, sites, tales and events in ‘Indian’ History.
The logo shows Borobodur Temple and Angkor Wat, emphasising the 'Indian' influence and the 'Indian' identity across South-East Asia. It also contains 'The Dancing Shiva' (Nataraja), which signifies one of the many metaphysical forces that bind the 'Indian' identities together. And, the different unified identities are shown using hands emerging out of the ancient land.
/India i.e Bharat/ as it is known today is a modern Nation-state formed in 1947, however, the ‘Indian’ identity is believed to have existed for thousands of years. I will be presenting different narratives and historical references on what is the meaning of the term ‘Indian’, who and what is considered ‘Indian’ concerning historical contexts, and how big of an impact has ‘Indian’ culture had on its neighbouring countries in South Asia, South-East Asia, and the World and other similar questions on Identity crisis.
I will try to present a de-colonized perspective of the Subcontinent’s History and how colonialism and imperialism have significantly affected and are still affecting an overall attitude towards viewing Indian History. This is also an open space for fellow history enthusiasts to send in their original work and contribute by taking the smallest step in reclaiming and restoring the forgotten Indian past.
