United Nations Associations (UNA’s) are independent membership organizations with non-governmental status.
UNAP comes under the umbrella of WFUNA; which is an independent, non-governmental organization with Category One Consultative Status at the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC); Associate Status with the United Nations Department of Public Information (DPI) and United Nations Organization for Education Science and Culture (UNESCO); Special List with the UN International Labor Organization (ILO); General Status with the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD); Status with UN Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO), International Atomic and Energy Agency (IAEA), United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), UN World Metereological Association and consultative or liaison links with many other UN organizations and agencies.
WFUNA is set up under Article 60 of the Swiss Civil Code. Its offices are located within the UN headquarters in New York and Geneva.
UNA representatives regularly attend UN meetings and conferences such as the UN General Assembly, the Human Rights Council and the UPR Working Group, the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty Review, UN conferences on Climate Change, etc.
