The Club’s fabled story begins with Elmer Griffin. In 1926, Griffin opened the Westside Tennis Club, as a club for actors and entertainers who were shunned by the elite clubs of the time. The Club became a special gathering place some of Hollywood’s most famous actors of the time, including Humphrey Bogart, Errol Flynn, Caesar Romero and Joan Bennett. Over the last 90 years, the Club has changed names and changed hands a number of times, but has never lost its inherent appeal to the residents of Los Angeles.
Now, under the stewardship of Meriwether Companies and Singerman Real Estate, the Club is fit for a new generation of creatives and groundbreakers, families, entertainers and artists, while honoring the man behind it all in both name and spirit.
Griffin Club is the ideal place to get away from the everyday, where members come together to work, play, party, and relax. Drop your kids at tennis camp while you get in a workout or answer some work emails, enjoy a meal with your family at either of the Club’s two dining venues, or host your friends and family for the next big event (and let the Club do all the work). Spread over nearly 4 acres, GCLA offers a range of sport and fitness options for members. In addition to eight LED lighted tennis courts and two outdoor lap pools, two levels of the clubhouse are dedicated to sport and fitness including private training and daily group exercise programming.
