The Central Office of Information (COI) closed on 31 March 2012.
COI was the Government’s marketing and communications department.
COI worked in partnership with other government departments and the public sector to deliver communications projects and information campaigns that provide maximum effectiveness and excellent value for money.
It provided consultancy, procurement and project management cross the full communications and marketing mix, from advertising and research through to digital engagement and PR.
COI also worked with the Government Communications Network (GCN) and Cabinet Office to achieve greater efficiency across government communication and set standards and guidance across a range of channels.
COI ranked third in the 2010 Sunday Times 75 Best Places to Work in the Public Sector. It employed over 700 specialists in offices across the UK.
