As higher education becomes more and more competitive, A Level schools are moving to a more result-oriented outlook. A new A level school hovers on the horizon today, ready to challenge this traditional style of teaching. Cedar College is the brainchild of a group of teachers who were disillusioned with the general state of pedagogy at A Level schools in the country. They got together and designed their ideal school – a school where the CIE curriculum, technology, extracurricular activities, and liberal arts are juxtaposed to make holistic learning happen.
This school has designed its curriculum keeping in mind the top undergraduate colleges. A Cedar student is confident, well spoken and well rounded. She gets good grades not because she memorized the curriculum but because she was taught to internalize learning. She has primary and supplementary knowledge of subjects and can think and speak beyond the typical curriculum. She is aware of her talents and interests and has been given the opportunity to pursue them. Above all, she is someone who can succeed because she has self-belief and self-confidence. We hope more schools like this crop up everywhere in Pakistan.
