The Newark Trust for Education (The Trust) is an independent non-profit dedicated to coordinating and focusing ideas, people, and resources; and holding all of us responsible for providing a quality public education for all children in Newark.
The Trust was launched in January 2011 to bridge the disparate views of key leaders and community members through information-sharing and collaborative opportunities aimed at problem solving at the system level. This is achieved by brokering and strengthening relationships that harness the energy, expertise, and passion of people and organizations so that all children have access to a high-quality public education.
In the last four years, The Trust has: increased accountability and transparency; enhanced collective impact through cross-sector collaboration; assisted in the strategic alignment of resources; and empowered parents, policymakers, principals, students, and district leaders with credible data to inform policy and practice at the system level. This critical work enables The Trust to foster collaborations, and empower the community to ensure that all voices are raised; all stakeholders represented, and that collective action results in preparing all of Newark’s children for a bright future.
