Volcanic Basin Energy Research (VBER) is a research and consulting company in Oslo. The company was founded as Volcanic Basin Petroleum Research (VBPR) in 1999.
VBER specializes in multi-client projects in collaboration with leading service companies and academic institutions. The projects include offshore technology development, integrated geological and geophysical interpretation projects and sampling of the seabed in volcanic basins around the world. The project results are presented in multi-client reports offered to energy companies.
VBER's focus areas are the margins of the Northeast Atlantic and the Arctic Ocean, especially the Møre and Vøring basins, the Barents Sea, East Greenland, the Jan Mayen ridge and West Greenland. The company's area of experience also spans the development, patenting and commercialization of high-resolution 3D seismic technology (P-Cable system) and sampling of the seabed for the identification of hydrocarbon anomalies and leakage structures.
The company is a leader in seismic imaging and interpretation of volcanic margins worldwide. In recent years, VBER has improved the interpretation and mapping of shallow deposits using high-resolution 3D seismic data from the Barents Sea and along the Atlantic margin.
