Sparkup Ltd. is a technology and design startup company based in Israel. The company was founded in 2009 by young parents who understand first-hand the challenges facing children’s reading and playtime experiences in a digital era.
The Sparkup® Magical Book Reader, the company’s inaugural product, uses proprietary visual recognition technology to “read” books aloud in a pre-recorded voice. Users can either record themselves reading aloud or download professionally recorded audio files from the company’s website directly onto the device, which holds 250 minutes of audio. The Sparkup attaches to any book and instantly recognizes the front cover and each page that have already been recorded, even if pages are turned out of order. Patent protection for the Sparkup’s technology and design is currently pending in the United States, Europe, Israel and China.
The company’s investors and management team are passionate about enhancing the lives of children and their families. Sparkup is backed in part by the $1 Billion "Keter Group", one of the world’s leading manufacturers and marketers of plastic consumer products.
