NOVA Debate Club is NOVA University of Lisbon's debate society. Our mission is to promote dialogue and a safe space, in which students can express their opinions in a structured way, as well the discussion of the topics that really matter in a society. With this in mind, we hold weekly debates in competitive and non-competitive formats, and host conferences and lectures with prominent figures from different backgrounds of society to discuss topics ranging from culture, to politics, terrorism, and so on. It is our belief that there is no better way to expose students to such topics than to creating the opportunity for them to interact with those who understand them best. Our member are also granted the opportunity to publish articles in well known newspapers, as a means to encourage the development of critical thinking.
