The Halcrow Estate Company Ltd is a social enterprise founded in 2018 to fund woodland restoration and create opportunities for people to experience nature. The company has now acquired its first site, Backhill Wood; a 20 acre woodland, just 10 minutes’ drive from Aberdeen Airport. We are currently working to improve the site for the benefit of wildlife and ecosystem services (The benefits that people derive from a healthy environment). By pioneering sustainable and environmentally beneficial rural enterprises, such as: timber harvesting and processing, Glamping, wild-camping and outdoor activities/events, the company hopes to safeguard the future of beautiful woodland ecosystems for people to enjoy and nature to thrive.
